Innovative Justice Forum
The Innovation of Justice Forum was
held on December 7th at the Peace Palace in The Hague.
The meeting was attended by judges, professors and individuals
involved with court technology from all over the world and sponsored by HiiL (The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law).
During the forum a contest was held
between 15 companies who presented the new technology they had
created to the attendees. At the end of the Forum the top 3 were
announced. The sponsoring organization of the Forum had been
mentoring the 15 companies for the previous 6 months to help them go
forward with their ideas and have a better chance of success. There
were 600 applicants for the program. The winning company would
received more money and continuing support from HiiL.
Workshops were held on data collection
and use, tracking of cases, transference of documents and artificial
intelligence and it's benefits and weaknesses. A lot of attention
was shown to the problem of an individuals rights to access to
justice and how to make that happen.
